Julie is a PhD student in Human Geography at the University of Manchester in the UK. She holds a bachelors degree in Public Administration from the University of the Philippines; and a double masters in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of York and International Relations from Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals. She was a recipient of the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship in Public Policy for 2009-2011.
Her current research seeks to map out and unbundle financialisation in the gold mining industry and its operations in key countries, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. Prior to doing her masters and PhD, Julie worked as a researcher for development policy research institutes Focus on the Global South - Philippines and the Transnational Institute in Amsterdam.
