Santiago Gorostiza (Barcelona 1981) is a PhD student at Centro de Estudos Sociais (CES) of Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal. Santiago has joined CES after completing a MA in Contemporary History at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he analyzed the management of water in Madrid during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Previously he had studied the collectivization of water management in Barcelona during the same period.
Santiago holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences (2004) and a BA in History (2011, Honours), both completed at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His range of interests includes the socio-environmental impacts of the Spanish Civil War and the Francoist dictatorship in Spain, especially during the autarchic period (1939-1959).
