Ignasi Puig Ventosa was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona, Spain) in 1973). He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Politechnical University of Catalonia and a PhD in Environmental Sciences by the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He also obtained an MSc in Monitoring, Modelling and Management of Environmental Change at King's College London. His main research area is the use of market-based instruments for environmental policy, particularly related to municipal waste management. He has written several books on these topics, along with a number of technical and scientific papers in national and international journals. Since 2002 he is head of projects at ENT Environment and Management (www.ent.cat), and since 2012 he also works for Fundació ENT, a foundation that is linked to Environment and Management (ENT) focused on environmental research. In 2007 he worked as environment advisor for the Spanish Parliament (Madrid) and in 2008 as external researcher at the OECD (Paris).
