Spring School on Social Movements

The second training School of Entitle will be held at Lund University and focus on understanding theoretically social movements and reflecting on the skills necessary for doing research on – and with – social movements. The School is to be pre-dated by network internal meetings that will consist of a mixture of research presentations and discussions and include the participation of fellows, mentors and European Commission representatives.

Even though the School (March 30 to April 04) is restricted to Entitle fellows and selected external PhD students most of the sessions are open to any want who wants to learn. The school will include presentations by Entitle faculty, including a talk by Joan Martinez-Alier and Alf Hornborg on the results of Environmental Justice Organizations, Liabilities and Trade project; visits to social and environmental groups in the cities of Malmö and Copenhagen; and a plenary talk by renowned critical economist Massimo De Angelis on the movement for the defense of the commons among others.

The list of speakers for the Open Sessions are: Marco Armiero ( Environmental Humanities Laboratory of Stockholm); Lawrence Berg (University of British Columbia); Massimo De Angelis (University of East London); Joan Martinez-Alier (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona); Susan Paulson (Lund University), Erik Swyngedown (The University of Manchester) and Magnus Wennerhag (Gothenburg University).
