Book presentation “Rivers of Salt” at ICTA, Barcelona
An environmental history of Barcelona’s drinking water supply
Entitle fellow Santiago Gorostiza, University of Coimbra, and Jordi Honey-Roses, Professor in University of British Columbia, will talk about "Rivers of Salt”, the latest book they co-authored together with Roger Lloret.
The book is an environmental history of the Llobregat and Cardener Rivers in the Spanish region of Catalonia, which reveals new documentary evidence on how mining companies have been consciously impacting the quality of Barcelona’s drinking water supply, the responses of city planners in the 1930s and the overall history of water salinity which has been called Catalonia’s most pressing environmental problem.
